Ellen Frain
Ellen I. Frain, 79, of Manistee, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016 at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility. Ellen was born July 13, 1937 in Bear Lake to Charles and Emma Harthun. She was the youngest of twelve. Six of her brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by Dr. Walter Harthun, LaVerne (Lois) Harthun and Kenneth Harthun, all of Bear Lake, Nora (Ray) Roth of Florida and Herbert (Alma) Harthun of Lake Orion. She is also survived by sisters-in-law June Sanborn, Rose Frain & Barbara Frain. Ellen married James Frain on March 24, 1955 and he preceded her in death on November 8, 2002. Ellen and Jim have four children; Phyllis (Ed) Gilbert of Cadillac, Rodney (Susan) Frain ,Timothy (Rita) Frain and Kelly Frain all of Manistee, five grandchildren; Joshua, Lacy, Jonathon, Julie and Bob, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson just born on October 31, 2016. Ellen worked for a number of years at the Manistee Intermediate School District. She loved attending Fresh Start Church in Boon, the summer music, community dinners and lunch with the Thursday ladies at the House of Flavors and any opportunity to share a hug and kiss with all the folks she would run into at Kmart/Oleson’s or anywhere else. Ellen loved her family and just about everyone became a part of her family. We don’t think Ellen ever “put down” a relationship. She was a forever friend and cared about many, many of you. There will be a service at Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee on November 23, 2016 at 11:00AM with Pastor Ed Gilbert officiating. A lunch will follow. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Thanksgiving was Jim and Ellen’s favorite holiday. She will be honored to share it with you. A trust has been set up for Kelly.
