EDWARD THOMAS Columbus, Ohio Obituary

EDWARD THOMAS

Eddie was wealthy in love, compassion, and family. He guarded those things that meant most to him, family and friends, and showed compassion towards even his greatest enemy. Eddie became noble by and through his life choices becoming a beacon for those living his part and sewing into all downtrodden souls crossing his path. Eddie was a true model of not allowing circumstance to control, but controlling reaction to circumstance. Learned of life and scripture, he shared any impartation to any willing listener. Eddie was a man of many experiences. During his lifetime he explored things from boxing and swimming, to being a moving and home healthcare professional. On his quest for more, Eddie matriculated through the Emmanuel Memorial Church to become an ordained minister. Sharing his spiritual finds from pulpit to street, he never waivered in pronouncing that Jesus was Lord of his life. Becoming the captain of his life, Eddie shined as a sponsor to people struggling with addiction to drugs as he shared his conquest of drugs across state lines. He saw no blemish in anyone, and in that he was able to reach the heart of all to whom he ministered the deliverance from drugs. Eddie was a man of style, always certain to be at his best appearance whenever in public view. An avid game player, anyone could catch Eddie entertaining a game of backgammon, dominos, or carrying his trusted chessboard set. and, as a lover of family, he could be found bantering and laughing with his family at any cookout, birthday party, family gatherings, or holiday. He is affectionately known as one of the favorite uncles. Eddie was an inspiration to may and unforgettable to all. He is preceded in death by his father Calvin Thomas Sr., his mother Gladys (Patton) Thomas, and his sister Carol Lynn Thomas. He survived by his former wife Sonya Thomas, son Stefan Thomas (Aureyl), daughter Trinity Thomas, sisters Marie Stevens (Frank) , Gladys"Sukie" Thomas, brothers Calvin Thomas Jr. ( Vena), Larry W. Thomas, Willie C. Thomas, Fred A. Thomas, Terrance"Tudy" Nevius, and host of other family members, in-laws, friends, and loved ones. Eddie retired his carnal wealthy guardianship after a long and eventful life at 6:27p.m. on November 4, 2014. His Father, God, determined that he needed to shine and guard among the heaves and laid his body and mind to rest. As pronounced by his sister, Marie Stevens, "the essence of him will be here even though he is not."
