ELSIE FLEMMINGS Obituary

Mother Elsie May Flemmings, 96 passed away peacefully at The Woodlands Assisted Living on Monday, November 3, 2014, born in Johnson City, TN to the late Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Jackson, wife of the late Pastor Walter J. Flemmings Sr., mother of the late Walter J. Flemmings Jr., employed by Ohio State University Hospital as a Laboratory Technician where she retired after more than 20 years of service. She was a longtime member of Second Shiloh Baptist Church where she served as First Lady, Minister of Music for several choirs, past President of the Mt. Calvary Ministers Wives District Association, Member of the Vocal Union, supporter of the Mt. Calvary District Association and held office and very involved in many other organizations. One of her very proud moments she was “Woman of the Decade” in 200 by the Ohio Baptist State Convention. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Mary Jean Flemmings, grandchildren, Michael A. (Jackie) Flemmings, Walter J. Flemmings III, Robin E. Flemmings, Gina L. Steward and Shawn K. Steward; great-grandchildren, Eryn Flemmings, Brenddon Flemmings, Kelvin Hunt, Chase Steward, Chelsa Steward, and Cheldon Steward; great-great grandchildren Ja’Honesty, Journey and Tavion and a host of other relatives and many friends.
