Frederick Joseph Knapp of Milford and Old Saybrook, CT joined his beloved wife, Nancy (Bobecka) Knapp and his parents, Frederick and Elizabeth Knapp in eternal life on November 1, 2014. He was a graduate from New Britain High School and UConn. Fred was a 40 year employee of Sikorsky Aircraft where he was an engineer on the initial Blackhawk development team and later on the Seahawk management staff. Fred was a devoted family man and devout Catholic. He was passionate about his sports teams; the Yankees, the UConn basketball teams and the Mohegan Sun. He enjoyed his home improvement projects and frequently traveled to Disney and Cancun. He fought a courageous battle with cancer and died surrounded by loved ones. Fred is survived by his children and their spouses; Frederick (Marilynn), Tracey (Michele), Robert (Kimberly), Amy (Bryan) Martin, eight grandchildren and a brother, Richard. Calling hours are Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated DIRECTLY in St. Mary's Church, Gulf St, Milford at 12 noon on Friday, November 7th. Interment will be private.
