Barbara May Martin, age 68, of Ludington passed away at her home on October 27, 2014. Barbara was born on May 6, 1946 to the late Chester and Doris (Jafke) Shappee in Ludington, Michigan. Barbara attended Ludington High school and graduated with the class of 1964. Barbara worked in retail as a sales professional advancing to administrative assistant to the store manager at Hudson’s Department Store in Grand Rapids. Barbara married Roger Alan Martin on August 9, 1996 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a member of St. John’s Church and mostly enjoyed her family, friends and granddaughters. Barbara is survived by her husband, Roger Martin of Ludington; son Scott Jay (Elisa) Swanson and granddaughters Kiara and Arianna of Caledonia, Michigan; Jackson Lewis (Rachel Wynbelt and daughter Bailie) Martin of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sisters, Susan (Rob) Jensen, Kathy (Arlie) Heemstra, and Diana Harris, all of Ludington; son-in-law, Michael Walton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Doris Shappee; and daughter Stacey Rene Walton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 31, 2014 at St. Johns church with Pastor Tom Boehne officiating. The family will receive friends at St. John’s Church at 10:00 AM until the time of service.
