James Iulo Obituary

James G. Iulo, age 74 of Port Charlotte, Florida and formerly of Milford, passed away on Tuesday October 21, 2014 at the age of 74. He was born in Bridgeport, CT on July 18, 1940. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1960 where he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Quantico, Virginia. Jim moved to the Newton, Bethel, Brookfield area in 1963 where he owned and operated many businesses including Plum Tree Heights, Woodland Lumber Company, and New Brook Excavating. In 1983, he opened the first paintball field in Connecticut, called Strategy Plus located in East Hampton along with two retail stores, called Supply Depot. Jim and his wife Carol(Shropshire) Iulo of 54 years retired to Port Charlotte Florida. Besides his wife, Carol, he is survived by his daughter Kendra(Dan) Griswold and son Colonel James (Jennifer) Iulo, USMC , along with 4 grandchildren, Kyle and Emily Griswold and Alexander and Katherine Iulo. Jim’s sisters, Susan(Richard) MacKenzie, Roni Amedy, and Helene Iulo; Brothers, Gerald and Robert Iulo along with several nephews and nieces. Jim is predeceased by his parents Edward and Helene(Staff) Iulo and brother Edward Iulo and sister Betsey Morgewicz. Prayer Service will be held Saturday November 1, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St. Milford, CT. Friends may call prior to the service from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in memory of James Iulo to the USMC Semper Fi fund at Semper Fi Fund.org
