Helen Louise (Henry) Teal, age 90 of Manistee, died Tuesday October 21, 2014 at her home. She was born October 11, 1924 in Aberdeen, South Dakota the daughter of the late Robert and Edna (Conant) Wheeting. She graduated from Imlay City High School and Central Michigan University with a degree in teaching. Helen married William J. “Bill” Henry in May 1963 and he preceded her in death. On January 20, 2000, she married Russell E. Teal and he also preceded her in death on April 20, 2014. Helen was a teacher at Manistee Area Public Schools as an elementary teacher, music and humanities teacher, and drama coach. She was a member and director of the Sweet Adelines and musical director of numerous Rotary Shows. Helen is survived by several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and final disposition will take place in Bath Cemetery in Bath, South Dakota. Memorial contributions in Helen’s name may be directed to MAPS Auditorium Fund for supporting the arts that she loved or to Hearts for Critters for the care and health of animals.
