JAMIESON, James “Jim” - Passed away at the Woodstock Hospital on Sunday October 26th, 2014 at the age of 84 years. Treasured husband of Gwen Jamieson (nee Paul) for over 63 years. Loving father of Anne Macdonald and her husband Jim, Katie Spence and father-in-law of Sonja Jamieson. Cherished grandfather of Jill Dafoe and her husband Tyler, Drew Macdonald, Lauren Blake and her husband Tom, Daniel Jamieson, Marley Spence, Kinsey Spence and great grandfather of Jake Dafoe. Dear brother of Howard Jamieson and John Jamieson and his wife Sheilah. Predeceased by his son Tom (1994) and by his brother Harvey Jamieson. Jim grew up in Powassan where he had been part of the Ontario Juvenile C Champion Hockey team “Powassan Lions” in 1946 and 1947. He was a Charter Member of St. David’s United Church, Woodstock and was involved in many community organizations and functions: Woodstock Probus Club, Meals on Wheels, Soup Kitchen, Woodstock Hospital Foundation and the Hillview Cemetery Board to name only a few. Jim was the founder and owner/operator of Jamieson - Hilts Insurance Brokers Ltd. in Woodstock from 1968 until his retirement in 1989. He earned his F.I.I.C. in 1964, was a past Director of R.I.B.O. and a Past President of the I.B.A.O. Jim was very active throughout his life. He enjoyed playing hockey, casual ice skating with his wife and family and finally in his retirement took up downhill skiing and golf. Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock (519-539-0004) on Wednesday October 29th, 2014 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at St. David’s United Church, 190 Springbank Ave., Woodstock on Thursday October 30th, 2014 at 1:30pm with the Rev. Jane Van Patter officiating. Cremation to follow. Interment later in the Hillview Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to Terry Fox Foundation or Operation Sharing would be appreciated (cheques accepted at the funeral home).
