Betty Y. Newbraugh, 90, of Winchester, died Monday, October 20, 2014 in Berkeley Springs, WV. Mrs. Newbraugh was born June 28, 1924 in Rochester, NY; the daughter of Harry A. Young and Norine Furlong Young. She retired as an administrative aide with the Social Security Administration. She was a member of Market Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Alvah St. John and Lynwood H. Newbraugh. She is survived by her step sons, Carroll L. Newbraugh of Winchester and Kenneth L. Newbraugh of Cross Junction, VA; three step grandchildren; and seven step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Young and Edward Young; and her sister, Marion Glitch; and a step granddaughter, Monica Bowers. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric Song officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Newbraugh, II, Troy Newbraugh, David Bowers, Lynn Newbraugh, Allyn Young and Bob Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Philip Bettendorf and Don Radcliffe. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
