Millinocket – Clement D’Angelo, Sr., 93, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at a Millinocket hospital. He was born November 17, 1920 in Millinocket, the son of Firoento and Philomena (Civiello) D’Angelo. Clem grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School. After graduating from high school, he worked as a police officer in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1941, he entered the U.S. Navy, and served on board the U.S.S. Amsterdam during World War II. After his war time service, he returned to Millinocket and worked at the Great Northern Paper Company until his retirement in 1987. Following his retirement, he worked in maintenance at the Heritage in Millinocket and enjoyed working in his garden. Clem is survived by two children, Judith D’Angelo-Bentson and Clement “Gig” D’Angelo, Jr.; two grandchildren, Charles Dickinson and Carrie Bernier and her husband Steve, all of Millinocket; three great grandchildren, Maria Tiller and her husband Brett, Daniel Cosman, Jr. and his significant other Ashley, all of Prince George, Virginia, and Ashley Dickinson of Millinocket; four great great grandchildren, Daniel “Buckshot”, Natalee, Alexis, and Austin; a brother, James D’Angelo, Sr. and his wife Shirley of Island Falls; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Clem was predeceased by his wife, Nadine K. (DeVoe) D’Angelo. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 P.M. Thursday, October 23 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M. Friday, October 24 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Interment with military honors will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Clem may be sent to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462.
