Carla M. (Olson) Craven, age 74 of Scottville passed away peacefully on Monday October 20, 2014 after a long fight with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) surrounded by her family. Carla was born on June 8, 1940 in Ludington, daughter of the late Harold and Muriel (Baker) Olson. She attended Ludington High School, graduating with the class of 1959. She worked for Giant grocery store and retired from there after 27 years. After that she was ready to start a new adventure as a business owner, opening Eden Hill Bed and Breakfast, which she ran for 7 years and was one of the 5 original innkeepers to start the Ludington Bed and Breakfast association. She had many great times cooking for her guests as well as making life long friends. Carla loved spending time with her family and creating memories by hosting family gatherings and sharing her many talents of story telling, cooking and her ability to impress them with her latest project. Carla and her family would like to acknowledge the loving care she received and friends she made from Hospice of Michigan - Mason County, as well as her many loving friends and family that visited her during her illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years Randy Craven of Scottville; Daughter, Pamela Smith of Kalamazoo; Sister, Marilyn Sweetland of Arizona; Brother William (Patty) Olson of Ludington; Sister-in-law, Kathie Olson of Custer; her special (second mother) Aunt, Margaret Baker of Ludington; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Muriel and Harold Olson and her brother Thomas Olson. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday October 23, 2014 at Oak Grove Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Hilyard officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00AM until time of service.
