Barbara Boyle Johnson, 78, of Spring Hill, Florida passed away peacefully, Tuesday October 14, 2014 in Wolcott, CT., after a long courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her beloved daughter Linda Johnson and her spouse Tara, of Wolcott, CT; her two brothers Bruce Boyle and his wife Barbara and Gary Boyle of Florida; her grandchildren Eric Johnson of Waterbury, Ct and Jill Piccirillo of Trumbull, CT; and several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and loving cousins. Barbara also leaves behind her loving, loyal dog Rusty and her birds Wizard and Babe. Barbara was born in Stamford, CT and grew up in the Norwalk area prior to relocating to the Tampa Bay area of Florida. She was an avid pinochle player, animal lover, and extremely proud of her military service (USNR). She worked many years fundraising for the Vietnam Veterans. Barbara joins her predeceased parents Walter Boyle and Helen (Davis) Boyle, brother Walter (Dewey) Boyle, and sisters Joan Shaughnessy and Elaine Plain Roberge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hartford VNA Hospice Care, 103 Woodland St., #1, Hartford, CT 06105 or Paws for Vets, 1900 S. Harbor City Blvd., Melbourne, FL 32901. Calling hours are Friday, October 17, 2014 from 12 noon to 12:30 pm at the Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad St., Milford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm in St. Agnes Church, 400 Merwin Ave., Milford, CT. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
