James Nestasie Obituary

James Nestasie, 91, of Edinburg, PA, passed away the afternoon of October 13, 2014 at Windsor House at Champion. Born on April 11, 1923 in Hillsville, PA, he was the son of the late Dominic and Theresa Loccissano Nestasie. Surviving him is his beloved wife of 68 years, the former Anne Tutino, whom he married on October 12, 1946.


James retired from his job as a manager for American Life and Accident. He also worked in Purchasing at Jameson Hospital. He previously graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in Business. During World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Army. A devout member of Christ the King Parish, James was a previous member of the parish council and an usher, and he also was the treasurer for the Holy Name Society of St. Lawrence Church. He also formerly served as president of the Lions Club, and he loved golfing.


In addition to his wife, James is survived by his children, Tressa DeMatteis and husband Richard of Hubbard, OH, Kathleen Oris of Champion, OH, and Dominick Nestasie and wife Norma of Delmont, PA; sister, Anne Cassamento of Warren, OH; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Nestasie; and sisters, Mary Barbero, Catherine Tutino, and Rose Palmer.


Visitation will take place Thursday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A procession will leave the funeral home Friday at 10:15am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Lawrence Church of Christ the King Parish, officiated by Rev. James Downs. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rites at the funeral home Friday at 10:00am.


Interment will take place at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
