Thomas Creamer Obituary

Thomas Edward Creamer of Waldoboro Maine, age 91, died peacefully at his ancestral home on Dutch Neck Monday September 29th. He was born on May 11th 1923, son of Milton and Hattie Rines Creamer in Waldoboro. He attended Waldoboro schools, graduating in 1940 as class president. He then joined the Army, serving in the 231rst First Search Battalion in France and Germany during World War II, earning the rank of sergeant. After the end of the war, he moved to Portland and began working at Porteous Mitchell and Braun Company where he would spend the next 37 years, retiring as Vice President in 1985. He loved retailing and enjoyed the many friendships he made over many years at the department store. He met his wife Geraldine Lincoln at a dance at the Evening Star Grange hall in Washington Maine. Marrying in 1949, they enjoyed 58 years together. They lived in Yarmouth for over forty years, where they raised their four children. He brought his family back to Lincoln County every weekend. His family continues to enjoy the camp he built by hand on Damariscotta Lake in 1958. Upon his retirement, he and wife immersed themselves in caring for his ancestral saltwater farm on Muscongus Bay. He loved his vegetable and flower gardens, bird watching, digging clams, cross country skiing, fishing and his many pets. Always on the go, he and his wife would relax by taking rides through the countryside, visiting friends and family. They also enjoyed dancing throughout their lives. Despite failing health in recent years, he, with the support of his children, was able to live at his beloved home until his passing. He is best remembered as a hardworking, kind and gentle man, who was happiest at home with his family.
