Albert J. DiGennaro, 61, of New Castle passed away the morning of September 28, 2014 at his residence. Born on March 29, 1953 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Albert and Inez Mastrodi DiGennaro. Surviving him at home is his beloved wife of 35 years, the former Luann Nicholson, whom he married on October 14, 1978.

For over 30 years, Albert worked for the city of New Castle in the Public Works Department. He belonged to St. Joseph the Worker Church. He was a 1971 graduate of New Castle High School. Albert always said that the best time of his life was in the delivery room watching his two children come into the world. He was so proud of them. When asked what three words best describe him, his answer was: impatient, impetuous, and intense. That was Albert. He loved his family, friends, the Pittsburgh Steelers, making people laugh, and telling stories.

In addition to his wife, Albert is survived by his children, Anthony DiGennaro of Las Vegas, NV and Carly DiGennaro and fiancé Andrew Wallick of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Barbara Ferrante of Las Vegas, NV; sisters-in-law, Diana Gealy and husband Ed of Volant, PA, Elizabeth Zadroga and husband Ted of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Cindy Brown and husband Richard of New Castle; brother-in-law, Tim Nicholson and wife Barb of New Castle; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Richard Ferrante.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for Albert will be held Thursday at 5:00pm at Gaston Park Shelter #9, officiated by Rev. Richard Nero. The family asks that people bring their favorite Albert stories to share.
