James Harris

Mr. James Darol Harris, age 69, of the Indian Creek section of Bee, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (September 23, 2014) at his home. Born June 11, 1945 in Dickenson County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Henry and Sarah Austin Harris. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a disabled coal miner and coal truck driver. He was a member of Sullivan Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Helen Harris, one son, Michael Wayne Harris, one daughter, Margaret Jean Harris, one sister, Georgia Phillips, and one grandson, Ryan Dakota Austin. Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Presley and friend, Joseph Austinof Honaker; three sons, Ricky Harris and wife, Tina of Honaker, Wayne Harris of Cleveland, and Doug Harris and friend, Brenda Gilbert of Davenport; five grandchildren, Megan Harris, Zachary Wayne Harris, Bridget Chaffin, Joshua Harris, Jolissa Austin; two great-grandchildren Hunter Chaffin and Ella Chaffin; four sisters, Minnie Pearl Thomas, Irene Owens, Bessie Robinson, and Martha Thomas; one brother, Jerry Allen Harris; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday in the Sullivan Branch Pentecostal Church, Bee, Virginia, with Rev. Jeff Tiller and Rev. Keith Harris officiating. Interment will follow in the Presley-Wampler Cemetery at Council, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Xavier Chaffin, Joseph Austin, Zachary Harris, Joshua Harris, Christopher Harris, and Allen Bostic. Friends may call at the Sullivan Branch Pentecostal Church after 6:00 PM Thursday. Honaker Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.honakerfuneralhome.net.
