Alvin Glaze Obituary

Alvin Russell Glaze passed away at his home in Hood River on September 20, 2014. He was born on March 12, 1937 in Silver City New Mexico to Willie and Beatrice Glaze (Poe). When he was 13 years old, the family moved to Washington state. After high school, he joined the Air Force and married Diane Powell. He and Diane raised their three children in Hawaii and western Washington, during which time he earned three college degrees. In 1982 the family moved to Hood River and purchased orchards on the west side of the valley. Alvin farmed while also working full time as an engineer at Bonneville dam and The Dalles dam. After his retirement, he and Diane traveled extensively, and he indulged in his love of photography. He is survived by his wife Diane, his daughter Crystal Pickerd (Jerry), son Anthony (Holly), and son Derek (Niki). He treasured his grandchildren Barrett Pickerd, Brandon Pickerd, William Glaze, Jack Glaze and Ethan Glaze. He is also survived by his brother John (Carol) and sister {Rose "June" (Mike) Tobin}.
