Douglas "Doug" Talley Obituary

Douglas Lee “Doug” Talley passed away Friday, September 19, 2014 at his home in Parkdale, Oregon. He was surrounded by his close friends and family. He was 64 years of age at the time of his passing. Doug was born February 19, 1950 in Portland, Oregon, the son of Andrew Talley and Marjorie J. Duckwall. Doug grew up in the Hood River Valley and graduated from Hood River High School in 1968. After high school, he attended Mt. Hood Community College and then joined the United States Navy in 1971. He served until 1977. Following his service in the Navy, Doug returned to Hood River and started his career at United Telephone (later Sprint and then Embarq). He enjoyed fishing, bow hunting, wood cutting, and being with friends and family, but Doug was best known for his acts of servitude to those in need. He was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Bible Church, Appleknockers, and The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Doug is survived by his wife Sharon; his daughter Katie Ealy and her children Shamas, Chandler, Liam, Owen, Jackson, and Lucy; his son Ken Talley; his sisters Karen Owings, Linda Talley and Becky Mihelich; Michael Herren; Jacquelyn Langford and her children Kinley and Kale; and Britney Nowland and her children Kaedence and Kimber. Doug also has countless extended family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, both long-time residents of the valley. Memorial services for Doug are planned for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27th, 2014 at Shepherd of the Valley Bible Church (1631 8th St, Hood River, OR 97031). Memorial contributions are encouraged to be made to the Pregnancy Resource Center and Heart of Hospice in Doug’s name.
