Verdie Coleman Martin, age 85, of the Kent’s Ridge section of Honaker, Virginia passed away Friday (September 19, 2014) in a Lebanon, Virginia nursing facility. Born June 2, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Jake and Maudie Cook Coleman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Martin in 2002; three brothers, Lehman Coleman, Linkous Coleman and Russell Coleman and one sister, Virginia Horne. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include three children, Patsy Martin and husband, Bob, Sharon Perkins and husband, Jorold and Michael Martin and wife, Alice all of Honaker, Virginia; five grandchildren, Lynn Martin, Shawn Martin, Aaron Perkins, Daniel Perkins and Allen Martin; four great-grandchildren, Chase Martin, Chloe Martin, Katie Hickman and Catherine Perkins; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Jeff Ball officiating. Interment will follow in the Martin Cemetery on Stinson Ridge. Pallbearers will be Shawn Martin, Chase Martin, Allen Martin, Daniel Perkins, Aaron Perkins, Derek Ray, and Gregory Ratliff.
