Alberta Muzzin Obituary

Alberta Lee Muzzin, 72, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 while traveling from Michigan to her winter home in Tucson, Arizona. She was born October 6, 1941 in L'Anse, Michigan. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Oak Grove Funeral Home, 3060 West U.S. 10 Highway in Ludington, Michigan. Friends may visit between 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. A separate Celebration of Life service will also be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Keehn Funeral Homes, 706 West Main Street, Brighton, Michigan. Friends may visit between 4:00 -7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. Alberta married the love of her life, Gino Muzzin, in Detroit in 1959. Bert and Gino, as they were affectionately called, recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. They had a positive impact on every community they lived in from South Lyon to Ludington to Tucson. Alberta was an entrepreneur, a small business woman, and a Chamber of Commerce Executive. She was a tireless advocate for the communities she served. She worked with many young men and women to help further their business careers. She was an Athena Award Winner, and served on a number of community boards and organizations in Livonia, South Lyon, and Ludington, Michigan. Alberta loved to laugh and make others laugh. She loved a good game of cribbage, cards, or a board game. Alberta loved to win and knew how to celebrate. But of all her many roles, the ones she cherished the most were that of wife, mother, and "Granma." It was time with her family that mattered to her the most, and gave her the most joy and fulfillment. Her husband Gino made the room light up for her for more than five decades. Dancing with Gino and listening to Jerry Vale would always make her smile. She is survived by her husband Gino, a son Jim (Cathy) of Brighton, MI.; three daughters, Gina Spain of South Lyon, MI.; Lisa Sizemore (Larry) of Montague, MI; and Suzanne Pscholka (Al) of Stevensville, MI. She leaves behind five grandchildren who all made her proud - Angela Rhodes (Ricky), Elizabeth and Tyler Muzzin, Nicole and Stephanie Spain. She is also survived by one brother and two sisters. Alberta leaves behind many friends and colleagues, all of whom will miss her laugh, her smile, and advice. Please feel free to share a memory or photo with Alberta’s family at www.oakgrovefh.com.
