Gladys Landora See Edmonds, 91, of Winchester, VA passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Evergreen Health and Rehab Alzheimers facility. Mrs. Edmonds was born on December 13, 1922 in Moorefield, WV; the daughter of Dice and Ollie Mae Lofton See. She worked for Virginia Pride Food Packers and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by everyone that knew her. Gladys married Charles Edward Edmonds, Sr. on April 5, 1941. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1990. She is survived by her children, Shirley Ann Purtlebaugh and friend, Sterling Shockey, Sr. of Winchester, Charles Edward Edmonds, Jr and wife, Roxie of Middletown, VA and Patricia Anne Riggleman and husband, Randy of Winchester; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Along with her husband, Charles, she was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Shook and three sisters, Grace Shook, Goldie Long and Elizabeth Terry. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, September 17, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at 11:00 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Anthony Wadsworth officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sterling Shockey, Sr., Albert Clark, Jr., Albert Clark, III, Tyler Beaver, Clark Nail and John Anderson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3701 Pender Drive Suite 400, Fairfax, VA. 22030.
