JoeAnn Mitchell Obituary

JoeAnn Mitchell was born on November 19, 1951 in Toledo, Oho to Nathan and Geneva Walls Sr. After a short time living with her grandparents in Alabama, she returned to Columbus to go to school and graduated from East High School in 1970. She went on to enroll in Columbus School of Fine Arts and attended for three years. She then worked at The Bureau of Motor Vehicles for 19 years. She then changed her career path to work for Denison/Parker Hydraulics as an Engineering Specialist until her passing.

JoeAnn was deeply involved in church activities and community outreach programs such as being a member of Groveport Human Needs for five years, a member of the board of directors including being president for several terms at Barnett Recreation Center for over 25 years, a member of the board of the MidWest Youth Sports League as Secretary for nine years, a director of Lay Speaking for the district of the United Methodist Church, a member and chair of multiple boards in the Methodist religion from her local church through the District and Regional levels.

She was a woman who loved God and loved doing His work in the church, He was always first in her life. She loved her family especially her grandkids and spoiled them constantly. No one got between her and her grandbabies. She had a huge heart and loved to give to others. IF you ever came to her house, she was sure you left with a gift. She loved to cook and was good at it. During every holiday you could always get a good meal at her home and everyone was welcome. Her extra-curricular activities included camping, going to yard sales, fishing and doing puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Geneva and Nathan Walls Sr., her older sister, Mary Ann Walls and brother Eugene Walls Sr. She was survived by her husband, Jay H Mitchell Jr, daughters, Iesha Mitchell, Stephanie Francisco (Eric) and Raquel Mitchell (Rayshawn), Siblings, Nathan Walls Jr (Sheila), Jerome Walls Sr. (Carmen), Kelvin Walls Sr. (Jackie), Charlean Shipp, Sharlean Walls. Grandchildren, Rodney Brown Jr, Raylan Brown, Kynidee Francisco, Jay Alan Francisco and Amaya Mitchell and Sister in Law, Jackie Davis (Robert) and Family and Friends.
