Millinocket – James Reynolds Pound, 81, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at a Bangor hospital. He was born February 15, 1933 in Millinocket, the son of Otis and Anne (Reynolds) Pound. Jim was a graduate of Stearns High School where he excelled in basketball. He retired from the Great Northern Paper Company from the finishing room. He was 55 years old and was able to spend many years enjoying that retirement. He had his daily routine of coffee, visiting his friends, etc., that he found much pleasure in. Jim also was a lifelong member of the American Legion. Jim is survived by his 3 children Joe, Jane, and Mary Lou; 8 grandchildren David, Sherri, Chris, John, Michael Ann, Kevin, Sara, and Bret; 2 great grandchildren Owen and Emily; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Jacqueline; a grandson Jonathan; and his good friend Corinne Johnson. At Jim’s request there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 20 at 1:00PM at Millinocket Cemetery with Pastor Craig Lathrop officiating. Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
