Carol Janet Garneau, age 78 of Naples, FL and of Ludington passed away on Thursday September 11, 2014 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. She was born on November 7, 1935 in Ludington, daughter of the late Richard W. and Kittie E. (Peterson) Brye. She attended Ludington High School and graduated with the class of 1953. Carol then attended Blodgett Nursing School in Grand Rapids, graduating as a Registered Nurse. Carol married Dr. Robert R. Garneau on May 8, 1957 in Ludington. Carol was very involved in the Ludington and Naples community, volunteering many hours to various organizations. She enjoyed playing tennis and her favorite pastime was painting as she was a very talented artist. Carol is survived by daughter, Leslie (Norman) Reichel of Leawood, KS; son, Dr. Robert A. (Ronda) Garneau of Paducah, KY; grandchildren, Natalie and Tessa Reichel and Garrett and McKenna Garneau; significant other, John Berend of Florida and Ludington; brother, Bob Brye; sister, Betty Brye-Liscomb; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard, Earl, Bill and Harold Brye; sisters, Evelyn Brye-Meyers, Virginia Brye-Salerno, Margie Brye-Vyse and Theresa Brye-Postema. Funeral services for Carol will be held at 10:00AM on Monday September 15, 2014 at Oak Grove Funeral Home with Pastor Mick Shriver officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 9:00AM until time of service. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Scottville. Memorial contributions in memory of Carol may be directed to either Sandcastle Children’s Museum or to COVE of Ludington.
