John A. Kintz, 79, of Decatur, IN died Friday, September 12, 2014 at Adams Memorial Hospital. John was born September 5, 1935 in Decatur, IN to the late John and Mary (Bernard) Kintz. He married Elizabeth “Sis” Miller on October 18, 1958. John was a graduate of Decatur Catholic High School 1953. He served in the US Army from 1955-1957. He worked at Central Soya, and then began his career in the Insurance industry in 1966 at Franklin National Life. Later, founded the Kintz Insurance Agency. John was an active member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and served on numerous boards and committees; including the Finance committee, Choir, CCD teacher for 18 years, Eucharistic minister and proclaimer of the Word; a former Fourth Degree Faithful Navigator and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus; Stephen Decatur award recipient; founding member of the Boys and Girls Club of Decatur, 20 year member of Adams County Memorial Hospital board; Board member of Bi-County Services; board member Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana; Democratic Party County Chairman for over 20 years; on numerous other community, civic and local boards. Surviving- spouse Elizabeth “Sis” Kintz of Decatur; Mrs. Julie (Tony) Coleman of Lexington, Kentucky; Mrs. Jacquie (Timothy) Vegh of Muncie, Indiana; Mrs. Kathy (Patrick) Massonne of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Mr. John P. (Lesley Baumgartner) Kintz of Decatur, Indiana; Mr. Dan (Amy Hoffman) Kintz of Decatur, Indiana; Grandchildren: Matthew, Meredith and Luke Coleman; Hillary and Chloe Bradburn; Lily and Ava Kintz; Ella, Addie and Will Kintz; Tiffany (Paul) Loebe, Tabitha Vegh; Great-granddaughter Adele Loebe; and sisters Marjorie Schultz; Ruth Bahler; Isabelle “Izzy” Gamble; and Patricia “Pat” Daniels. Preceded in death by- his parents; brothers William Kintz and Daniel Kintz; sisters Mary Alice Whitwright, Helen Ruggles, Berniece Hackman, and Dolores Reed; and grandson Griffin Bradburn. Visitation will be from Noon-6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, followed by the reciting of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, September 15, 2014 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father Glenn Kohrman officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School or the Boys and Girls Club of Adams County.
