BLANCHER, Mary-Ellen (nee Sutherland) - After a courageous battle with cancer for more than six and half years surrounded by her loving family at VON Sakura House on Wednesday September 10th, 2014 in her 61st year. Mary is the beloved wife and best friend of loving and caring husband Leslie “Les” Blancher for over 40 years. She is the loved mother of devoted and cherished children Todd Blancher and Nicole (Paul) Johnson. Proud nana of Sloane and Rook Johnson. Also left behind is her beloved and constant companion Zoey, along with Arrow and Zira. Loved sister of Bill Sutherland of Port Burwell, Judy Gowdy of Woodstock, Peter (Marion) Sutherland of Calgary AB, Norma (Rob) Sprague of Norwich, Susan (Bob) Beckett of Woodstock, brother-in-law Terry Blancher, Ray (Maria) Blancher and sister-in-law Sharon (Ed) Thompson. Also sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by loving parents William and Audrey (nee Maycock) Sutherland, father-in-law Les Blancher, mother-in-law Winnie Blancher and brother-in-law Bob Blancher. Mary worked for General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 2006 and then volunteering and worked for the Alzheimer Society for 5 years before her ailment forced her to leave a job she loved to be at. In her off hours in the summer she would be at her beloved Blue Heaven Cottage at Hoover Point where she made many friends who will also miss her dearly. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life gathering at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, on Sunday September 14th 2014 from 12-4 pm.
