Ivan Merl Gibbons, Sr. was born on June 25, 1957 in Pine Ridge, SD to Charles Gibbons and LaVonne Lays Hard. At the age of 2, Ivan was adopted by Lewis and Marjorie Thompson and whom resided in Gordon, NE. Ivan passed away on September 10, 2014 in Martin, SD. Ivan is survived by his sons, Ivan Gibbons, Jr., Bryce Gibbons, and Brian Gibbons all of Sioux Falls, SD, and Isaac Gibbons of Rapid City, SD; daughters, LaVonne Peterson, Kimberly Marshall, and LaTasha Gibbons all of Rapid City, SD; and Bille Jean Gibbons of Wanblee, SD; brother, John Thompson of Clay Center, KS; 23 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Ivan was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Lewis and Marjorie Thompson; biological parents, Charles Gibbons and LaVonne Lays Hard; and grandmother, Cora Lays Hard-Galligo.
