Stanley Morrison

Millinocket – Stanley J. Morrison, 65, died Saturday, September 6, 2014 at his home in Millinocket. He was born November 6, 1948 in Millinocket, the son of William R. and Doris M. (Cote) Morrison. Stanley grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1970. He worked at the Great Northern Paper Company in Millinocket for 35 years in the Coating Room. Stanley was an avid trapper, hunter and fisherman. He spent many happy hours fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles with his son and best friend, James, as well as taking Shyanne out for rides and shopping or anything else she wanted to do. Stanley is survived by four children, Renee Tapley of Turner, Heather Vaznis and her husband Timothy of East Millinocket, James “Jimmy” Morrison and his fiancé Brittany Leet of Medway, and Abbie Colombo and her fiancé Chris Stefens of East Millinocket; nine grandchildren whom he loved and adored Broc, Mercedes, Mariah, Alexis, Maryssa, Shyanne, Trafton, Jaidyn, and Natasha; a great granddaughter, Kayden; a sister, Linda Morrison Wilks of Levant; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will also be missed by two lifelong best friends, Jack Hale and Henry Harper. In addition to his parents, Stanley was predeceased by two sisters, Donna Sumers, Carol Jean Morrison, and a brother, William R. Morrison, Jr. Graveside services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, September 14 at the Millinocket Cemetery with the Rev. Joel Cyr presider. Gifts in memory of Stanley may be sent to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462.
