Jane McChesney Coventry, Connecticut Obituary

Jane McChesney

Jane E. McChesney, 94, a 19 year resident of Coventry passed peacefully from this life on August 22, 2014 surrounded by members of her family. She was born in Lewistown, PA, the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Jane (Will) Burke of Belleville, PA where she grew up. She attended Oberlin College and The Pennsylvania State University prior to marrying her beloved husband, Donald, to whom she was married for 59 years prior to his death in 1999. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and the Order of The Eastern Star as well as an active golfer. She and Donald owned and operated a successful long haul moving and trucking business, beginning first in Lock Haven, PA and then in Williamsport, PA. Upon retirement Jane and Don moved to Connecticut where they lived with their eldest daughter and son-in-law. She became an avid fan of the UConn Women's Basketball Team, attending many games and continued to cheer hard for Penn State football. Predeceased by her son, Henry Burke McChesney, Jane is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Jean and John Bennett of Coventry, CT and Elizabeth Scholl and Tom Connor of Midlothian, VA, four granddaughters, and eight great grandchildren. Jane will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, forever. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the marvelous caregivers from Hospice and Home Instead. Words cannot express how special these people have been in helping Mom live out her life at home, in a most comfortable and dignified manner. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. for a Celebration of Life Service at the Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Turnpike, (Rt. 44), Coventry, CT.
