Mary Benoit Obituary

It is with sadness the family of Mary Jane Benoit, 64, of Mahone Bay, announces her passing on Saturday September 6, 2014 surrounded by her family in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Ship Cove; Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Chesley and Myrtle (Wheeler) Benoit. Known to family and friends as “Jeannie”, she moved from her hometown of Ship Cove to Mahone Bay in her early twenties and began raising her family, all of whom she was very proud of, especially her granddaughter Mya. Jeannie was involved in various groups but made raising her children a priority in her life. In true Newfoundland fashion her door was always open to everyone and the smell of her famous homemade bread was enjoyed by all. She is survived by her son Cory (Andrea Hipson); Mahone Bay, daughter Michelle (Kyle) Langille; Blockhouse, granddaughter Mya, brothers Danny and Gillie (Carol) both of N.L., Tommy (Linda); Windsor, Joey (Marion); N.L. and her sister Doris Hatcher of Mahone Bay. Besides her parents Jeannie is predeceased by an infant brother Wade. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. The family would like to welcome friends and family to Kyle and Michelle’s home at 735 Cornwall Road in Blockhouse on Sunday September 14 to share memories from 2- 4 p.m. Interment will take place in Newfoundland at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Lodge That Gives or the South Shore Hospital Foundation.
