Mary Carmen Medvit, 91, of Union Township passed away the evening of September 2, 2014 at Avalon Nursing Home. Born on June 19, 1923 in New Castle, she is the daughter of the late Pasquale and Carmella DiCostanzo Zito. Surviving is her beloved husband of 62 years, Steve Medvit, whom she married on June 21, 1952.

In her earlier years, Mary worked as a payroll clerk for Shenango China and as a sales clerk for Strouss Department Store. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. Mary will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who lived for her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her children, Mark Medvit and wife Nadine of Rome, NY and James Medvit and wife Lottie of New Castle, and six grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, James Zito, and sister, Nickoletta Zito.

Visitation will take place Friday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd.

A procession will leave the funeral home Saturday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Vitus Church.

Entombment will take place at Resurrection Mausoleum.
