Howard Nussbaum

Howard D. “Howdy” Nussbaum 86, of Monroe, passed away Friday August 29, 2014 at Swiss Village in Berne. He was born on March 24, 1928 in Adams County, IN., to the late Edwin and Ora (Baumgartner) Nussbaum. On January 10, 1953 Howdy married Eloise L. (Smith) enjoying 61 years of marriage together. Howdy was a member of Cross Community Church in Berne. He served his country in the United States Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Howdy worked construction for 32 years, then he became a custodian for 18 ½ years at Adams Central Community Schools retiring in 2002. He is survived by his wife Eloise L. Nussbaum of Monroe, one son Dr. Michael L. (Nancy) Nussbaum of Jenkintown, PA., one sister Jean Neuenschwander of Berne, four grandchildren Brian (Beth), Elizabeth, Daniel, and Michelle Nussbaum, and one great grandson Braden Nussbaum. Howdy was preceded in death by one son Steven J. and a brother Kenyon. Visitation will be held on Monday September 1, 2014 from 3:00-7:00pm at Haggard Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at Cross Community Church on Tuesday. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday September 2, 2014 at Cross Community Church. Burial will take place at M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne. Pastor Chris Kruchkow and Pastor Jay Carter will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the Cross Community Church
