Dean Long

Dean Richard Long, 51, of Lititz and formerly of Red Hill, passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 28, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Donna (Slemmer) Long. They celebrated 32 years of marriage on July 24th. He was the son of Richard and Grace (Schwenk) Long of Red Hill. Dean was an electrician, working for Haller Enterprises in Lititz for the past nine years. Prior to that, he worked for N. F. Landis Son Inc. in Souderton for fifteen years. He is a member of Frieden's UCC in Sumneytown and an associate member of St. Luke's UCC in Lititz. Dean was a Life Member of the Upper Perkiomen Valley Ambulance Association, where he was a former long time ambulance driver. He was also a former firefighter and driver for Red Hill Fire Company. Dean spent his spare time with his grandchildren and enjoyed hunting. Along with his wife and parents; he is survived by a son, Keith and his wife Jen of Bechtelsville; and a daughter Amanda Renee Long, with William Duncan, of Lititz; four grandchildren: Sophie, Aiden, Elyjah, and Christian; sisters: Sharon, wife of Rick Schuler of East Greenville; Beth, wife of Rob Jenkins of Palm; and Sheila, wife of Ed Kraus of Pennsburg; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by twin grandchildren: Blake and Kamryn. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday at New Goshenhoppen UCC, 1070 Church Rd, East Greenville, PA 18041. There will be a viewing in the Roberts Room at the church from 9 - 11 a.m. prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Red Hill. The Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pennsburg has been entrusted with services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donation to the Upper Perkiomen Ambulance, 2199 E.
