George Franklin Poston

George Franklin “Frank” Poston, 87, of Winchester, died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Poston was born February 21, 1927 in Leesburg, VA; the son of Joseph Franklin and Annie Davis Poston. He retired as a self-employed plumber. He was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church, member of Kiwanas Club-Winchester, Moose Lodge and Winchester Hiram Lodge. Mr. Poston served in the U.S. Air Force. Frank was an avid sports fan and managed a Little League baseball team for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and playing golf. Frank loved going to car races to see his grandson, Andrew, racing at Langley Speedway. He enjoyed spending time with Patrick restoring old cars. Frank loved vacation with his family at Myrtle Beach, Florida and Nags Head.
He married June Grubbs on October 14, 1950 in Winchester, VA.
Along with his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Patricia Poston Condrey of Henrico, VA; a brother, Paul Poston, wife Nancy, of Frederick County, VA; a sister, Ann Bailey, Winchester, VA, and two grandchildren, Patrick Poston and Andrew Condrey. Frank was preceded in death by his son, Glenn Franklin Poston, and two brothers, Leslie and Fenton Poston and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be Tuesday 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W. Anthony Layman and Rev. Charles Harless officiating. The pallbearers will be Andrew Condrey, Patrick Poston, Dean Grubbs, Billy Grubbs, Dennis Grubbs, Randy Grubbs, Mark Sanders, and Lawton Saunders. Burial will be at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
