Mr. Michael Junior “Bubby” Justice, age 41, of the Horn Branch section of Garden Creek, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (August 20, 2014) from injuries sustained in a mining accident. Born June 26, 1973 in Tazewell County, Virginia, he was a son of Michael Justice of Garden Creek, Virginia, and the late Claudine Carol Vandyke Justice. A loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, he was a member of Osborne Mountain Pentecostal Holiness Church. He had been employed as a coal miner since 1995, working for Consol Energy for the past four years. He was an active fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed working on automobiles of all kinds. Bubby had a heart of gold and a smile like no other. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Grace Justice Price, and grandfathers, James Justice and Earl Vandyke. In addition to his father, survivors include his wife of seventeen years, Tammy Denise Nickels Justice of the home; one son, Jordan Lee Justice; four daughters, Amber Denise Justice and Lyndzey Sutherland both of the home, Courtney Tayler Justice Miller and husband, Chance of Roanoke, Anita Davis of Richlands; very special granddaughter who was so close to his heart, Sadie Ryan Miller; granddaughters, Heather Cheyanne Davis, Alexis Sutherland, and Kelsie Elswick; grandson, Dakota Sutherland; two sisters, Melissa Justice Street and Sarah Nadine Justice both of Oakwood; brother, Jonathan Justice of Oakwood; step-mother, Phyllis Justice of Garden Creek; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnie and Loretta Nickels of Grundy; brothers-in-law, Travis Nickels and wife, Jolene and family of Oakwood, Tim Nickels and wife, Tammy of Little Prater, and Thomas Nickels of Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Teresa Nickels Lester and husband, Shannon of Looney’s Creek, Tina Nickels McGlothlin and husband, Anthony of Garden Creek; grandmother, Waddie Vandyke of Oakwood; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Luther Bowman and Rev. Anthony Hale officiating. Interment will follow in Esau Rife Cemetery at Keen Mountain, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Johnny Ray McGlothlin, William Rasnake, Matthew Street, Joe Mullins, Travis Nickels, Jordan Justice, Tim Nickels, Shannon Lester, Anthony McGlothlin, and Chance Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Consol Energy Buchanan 1 Mines. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Friday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM with Rev. Billy Vandyke officiating.
