Norman L. Rhodes, 90, of New Castle St., New Wilmington, Pa., passed away the afternoon of August 16, 2014 at Jameson Hospital.

Born in New Castle on May 29, 1924, Norman was the son of the late Edward and Lulu Miles Rhodes. He is survived by his wife, the former Lida Kerestley, whom he married on November 19, 1947.

Norman retired from Western & Southern Insurance Company where he worked as a salesman. He had also worked for Al Sweet Motor Company, North City Motors and eventually, Preston Auto Group. Norman loved hunting and was an avid sports fan. Norman enjoyed coaching Little League and Pony League baseball. He had also co-chaired a dinner honoring Chuck Tanner, the former manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates, where they presented Mr. Tanner with a new car.

In addition to his wife, Norman is survived by his son, Kenneth Rhodes of New Castle; one grandchild and two step grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his three brothers, Edward, Paul and Russell Rhodes and his sister, Dorothy Oliphant.

Services will be private.

Interment will take place in Castleview Memorial Gardens.
