Yvette Deabay Obituary

Millinocket – Yvette Deabay passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at the Millinocket Regional Hospital on August 13, 2014. She was born in Fort Kent on February 15, 1924 to Isabelle (Bard) and George Russell. She attended Fort Kent schools. Later during World War II, she worked as a welder in the South Portland shipyard. During her early years of marriage she lived with her husband Henry at a Great Northern Paper Company woods camp, where he worked as a clerk. Yvette was a professional homemaker who truly loved her family and would do anything for them. She babysat her grandchildren, and many other children, over the years. She enjoyed walking, knitting, crocheting, and cooking for her family. She was as communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church and volunteer worker for the St. Martin’s thrift shop for many years. Yvette is survived by sons James and Robert Deabay, daughter Donna Doody and husband Eldon, daughter Gail Rucci and husband Michael, all from Millinocket; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister Janet Dumond and husband Donald of Lisbon; and brother Emil Russell of Houlton. She is predeceased by her husband Henry; granddaughter Andrea Robinson; brothers Gerard Russell and Leo Russell; sisters Regina Rideout and Leda O’berg; and several nieces and nephews. At her request there will be no visiting hours. A funeral service will be celebrated Monday, August 18 at 10 A.M. at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church of Christ the Divine Mercy parish, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with Deacon Danny Watson officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P. O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home.
