Berniece A. Hackman, 86, of Decatur, IN died on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Woodcrest Nursing Center. Berniece was born on January 8, 1928 in Decatur to the late John A. and Mary A. (Bernard) Kintz. On May 28, 1949 she married Anselm B. (Jack) Hackman. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2013. Berniece was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. She had worked for Monmouth Elementary as a Teachers Aid. Survivors include three daughters, Deborah (Robert) Ault of Ft Wayne, IN, Sarah (Eric) Johnson of Ft Wayne, IN, Amy (Patrick) Smith of Churubusco, IN; two sons Christopher (Donna) Hackman of Avilla, IN and Andrew (Donna) Hackman of New Haven, IN; a brother, John (Sis) Kintz of Decatur; four sisters, Marge Schultz of Decatur, Ruth (Bob) Bahler of Anderson, Isabelle (Phil) Gamble of Edmond, WA and Pat (Larry) Daniels of Decatur; 12 grandchildren,12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Sam and a daughter Danette who died in infancy; two brothers Daniel and William; three sisters Mary Alice Whitright, Helen Ruggles and Dolores Read. A 9:30 a.m. Rosary will be on Monday, August 18, 2014 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church followed by a 10:00 a.m. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial. A memorial visitation and gathering will follow the mass in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Father David Voors will be officiating. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
