Doris Bouchard

East Millinocket – Doris M. Bouchard, 78, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at a Millinocket health care facility. She was born July 4, 1936 in Stockholm, the daughter of William and Regina (Lavoie) Bourgoin. Doris grew up in Aroostook County, and grew up with her older sister after becoming an orphan at the age of 11. She was a very resourceful person, and was a “Do It Yourselfer” from a young age, from painting the house, to re-upholstering furniture, if something needed to be done, she would do it. Doris was never one to shy away from a challenge. She loved cooking, and owned her own restaurant for a period of time. In later years, she enjoyed playing beano, card games, as well as singing and dancing. Doris also was very thrifty, and could stretch her dollars at yard sales, the Dollar Store, and other bargain hunting ventures. She loved young children, and was very appreciative of time spent with her family at holidays and gatherings. She is survived by seven children, Sharon Grant and her husband Norman, Sheila Johnston and her husband Bill, Deborah Enright, Christine Wyman and her husband Richard, Cyndi Coombs and her husband Tim, and Janet Bouchard; a special daughter in law, Cathy Bouchard; siblings, Richard Bourgoin and companion Sharon, Jeanette Page and her husband Ron, and Armond Bouchard and his wife Marion; 16 grandchldren; 17 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Doris always held a special place in her heart for her great granddaughter, Kae Lynn. She was predeceased by the father of her children, Milleo Bouchard, a son, James Bouchard, and two sisters, Joanne Gagnon and Dolores Thorne. A Liturgy of the Word and Communion will be celebrated 11 A.M. Friday, August 22 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket, with Deacon Danny Watson, presider. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Houlton. Gifts in memory of Doris may be sent to Katahdin Health Care, 22 Walnut St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
