Millinocket – Lewis S. Morrison, 87, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, died peacefully at his home in Millinocket on August 10, 2014, after a brief illness. He was born March 26, 1927 in Millinocket, the son of Hector and Beulah Morrison. Lewis was married to the love of his life, Patricia Kelly Morrison, for fifty years prior to her death in 2003. He attended Stearns High School and joined the Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, he attended Ricker College and went to work for Great Northern Paper Company in the QA Department. Upon his retirement in 1986, he and his wife spent their winters in New Smyrna Beach, FL and their summers at their camp on Ambajejus Lake in Millinocket. Lewis is survived by his three loving children, Louise and her husband Steve Fitzpatrick of Stephens City, VA, Lynn Crosby of Tega Cay, SC, and Jay and Sandra Morrison of Millinocket, ME. In addition to his children, he is survived by six grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Papa”, Amber Byron and her husband David Babin of Manchester, NH, Jessica Crosby and her partner Eric Granfors of Nashua, NH, Jayson Morrison and his wife Jaycie of Portland, ME, David Crosby and his wife Robyn of Lebanon, NH, April Byron Cloutier and her husband David of Maynard, MA, and Rachel Morrison and her fiancé Matt Curran of Old Orchard Beach. He is also survived by two great-grandsons, Max Morrison and Dean Crosby. Other surviving family members are: his sister Joyce Kovalcik, brothers Harry Morrison and wife Tina, Frank Morrison and wife Joyce, Gary Morrison and wife Billee, brother and sister-in-laws Robert and Carolyn Kelly, Donald and Beverly Farquhar, Mary Kelly, John and Rebecca Kelly, Paul Gonya, Ellen Morrison, numerous nieces, nephews and may friends in Millinocket and New Smyrna Beach, FL. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Gonya and Jean Devoe, and two brothers, Robert and Hector Morrison. He was a lifetime member of the Millinocket Elks where he enjoyed many afternoons playing cribbage. He looked forward to watching the Red Sox and the Patriots and lived to see them win world championships. Lewis loved the warm weather and alternated spending time at his camp on the lake in the summer and in the cooler months at his second home with his daughter Lynn, in South Carolina, traveling to Florida to spend the month of March in New Smyrna Beach, FL. A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, August 15 at 2 p.m. at the Millinocket cemetery.
