It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Isabel Macklin, 88, of Lunenburg, announce her passing on Saturday August 9, 2014 at Harbour View Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Bridgewater, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Hortense (Aulenback) Veinot. Dorothy worked for many years with Sears Store in Lunenburg, where she was Manager for approximately 20 years. Active in her community, she was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital and Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 23. Dorothy is survived by her sisters-in-law, Doris Veinot, and Grace Veinotte both of Lunenburg; niece, Pauline Tanner, Lunenburg, nephews, Dwight (Jane) Veinot, Stillwater Lake, Tom (Valerie) Veinotte, Bridgewater, Erroll (Pat) Veinotte, Mahone Bay, John David (Joan) Veinotte, Lunenburg and Granville (Charlene) Veinotte, Heckman’s Island. Dorothy enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, knitting, bowling and spending time at home with family and friends. We have all been blessed to have known such a kind and wonderful lady. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Macklin; brothers, Ralph, Walter and Fletcher (Margaret) and an infant sister, Elizabeth Ann and a niece Myrna Selig. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg, where a service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Alvin Westgate, officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.
