Mrs. Christine Johnson Austin, age 55, of the Fletchers Ridge section of Vansant, Virginia, passed away Thursday (August 7, 2014) in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born March 2, 1959 in Hazard, Kentucky, she was a daughter of Williard and Mayrene Huff Johnson. She had lived most of her life in the Buchanan County area and was of the Pentecostal faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Austin, one sister, Linda Atkins, and one grandson, Ryan Austin. Survivors include one daughter, Julia Ball and husband, William of Bluefield, Virginia; four sons, Ronald Anthony Austin of Bluefield, Joseph Dean Austin and friend, Melissa Presley of Honaker, Randy Dean Austin and wife, Melody, and Jason Andrew Austin all of the home; five grandchildren, Tyler Ball, Ethan Ball, Chloe Justus, Anthony Austin, and Jolissa Austin; one sister, Patty Street of Grissom Creek; three brothers, Gary Johnson and Wilma of Hansonville, Danny Johnson of California, and Donnie Johnson of Bristol; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Troy Harris and Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Austin Cemetery at Venia, Virginia. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
