Earl Freed

Earl D. Freed, 91, of Spinnerstown, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Grace (Wieand) Freed. Born in Spinnerstown, he was a son of the late Wellington and Emma (Heipler) Freed. Earl was employed by the Hans G. Knoll Furniture Company, now called simply Knoll, from it's beginning in East Greenville until his retirement as a production manager in 1985. He built, and proudly cared for his home on Steinsburg Road. Earl was an active member of Trinity Great Swamp United Church of Christ in Spinnerstown. Along with his wife, Earl is survived by his children: Gerald "Jerry" and his wife Carole of Quakertown; Lynette Mackey of Elizabethtown; Joan, wife of Todd Kehler of Harrisburg; a son-in-law, Dale Hower, of Zionsville; eleven grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter Merle Hower; brothers: Paul, Clarence, Woodrow, and Charles; a sister Martha; and a son-in-law Robert Mackey. A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 14th at Trinity Great Swamp UCC, 9150 Spinnerstown Rd., Spinnerstown, PA 18969. All are invited to gather at the church from 9 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pennsburg is in charge of arrangements.
