Margaret E. Cioppa Obituary

Margaret E. (Peggy) Cioppa, 82, formerly of Lutton St., lost a long and courageous battle with Parkinson ’s disease the afternoon of July 28, 2014 at the Jameson Care Center.


Born in New Castle on November 25, 1931, Margaret was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Matteo Ezzo. Also preceding her in death on June 19, 2013, is her husband Michael J. Cioppa, whom she married on May 10, 1952.


She was a lifelong devoted member of St. Vitus Church. Margaret was also a member of the church’s Christian Mothers and was an active volunteer for the church and St. Vitus School. Margaret was a homemaker and in earlier years had worked for Augustine’s Pizza. Margaret was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was also known locally for her beautiful singing voice. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her.


She is survived by her three children, Michael Cioppa and his wife Betty Ann of New Castle; Cynthia Pagliaroli of Hermitage; Amy Rich and her husband Ralph of Hubbard, OH; her two sisters, Carol Bethle and Janet Pratt, both of New Castle; and her five grandchildren, Christina Cioppa, Anna Marie Cioppa, Tony Pagliaroli, Ralph Rich and Andrew Rich.


In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Lozier.


Visitation is Wednesday from 4PM to 7PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30AM for St. Vitus Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM officiated by Rev. Frank Almade.
