Wanda Gay Shortt, age 62, of Honaker, Virginia passed away Saturday (July 26, 2014) at her home. Born December 29, 1951 in Russell County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Luther McKinley and Ollie Romans Shortt. She was a lifelong resident of the area. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Shortt and Gary Shortt and one sister, Wilma Price. Survivors include two sons, Matt Shortt and wife, Audrey and Lee Hess and girlfriend, Nicole Hatfield both of Honaker, Virginia; three grandchildren, Cierra Shortt, Jasmine Shortt and Matthew Shortt; special friend, Darrell Rutrough of Honaker, Virginia; two brothers, Harold Shortt and wife, Tina and Carlos Shortt and wife, Mary both of Honaker, Virginia; one sister, Eva Lou Reavis of Grundy, Virginia and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Monday with Rev. Chester Ball officiating. Interment will follow in the Shortt Cemetery at Thompson Creek, Virginia. The family will receive friends from Noon until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Lee Hess, Terry Thomas, Harold Dean Thomas, Troy Rutrough, Noah Thomas and Darrell Rutrough.
