Thérèse Denise Behara (née Tardif) June 7, 1948 - July 4, 2014 Thérèse Denise Behara (née Tardif) passed away peacefully on July 4, 2014. Thérèse loved life and had a very strong will to survive. When times were tough she always made do and focused on the positive elements of life. She was diagnosed with colon cancer two years ago and remained quite positive during her illness. In the weeks before her death she was surrounded by her children, siblings, relatives, friends and caregivers at Ian Anderson House in Oakville. Our times together there brought all of us closer to each other. She is survived by three children Jean-Paul, Geneviève and Natalie, and seven grandchildren, Audrey, Sam, Stella, Yannick, Isabelle, Mia and Anya, an older brother André, a younger brother, Jacques and four younger sisters, Cécile, Suzanne, Diane and Colette, several nieces and nephews and their children. Her niece Anouk was like another daughter and Thérèse was like a grandmother to her three children. As the eldest daughter of a French Canadian family from Kearns (Northern Ontario) she learned at an early age how to take care of her family. She loved to bake and take walks along the water near her home in Port Credit and spend time with family.Thérèse is preceded by her loving husband Devendra Behara (1940-2009) and their son Robert (1984-1985). A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 28th at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish (at the corner of Lakeshore and Peter St. in Port Credit). Friends and family are welcome to gather after the mass in the party room of the apartment building at 66 High Street East. The burial will take place near Kirkland Lake on Saturday, August 2nd at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or Ian Anderson House.
