Millinocket – Edwina R. “Sis” Caron, 88, wife of the late Gilbert J. Caron, Sr., passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at a Millinocket hospital. She was born April 2, 1926 in Millinocket, the daughter of Albert D.W. and Ethelyn M. (Morris) Carter. Sis attended school in Millinocket and graduated from Stearns High School after which she worked at Kimball’s Department Store, Monhegan Market, Gonya’s Drug Store (Blue Room), and also for Lloyd Morey, O.D. In recent years, Sis was a resident at Stearns Assisted Living. She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Okeson and her husband Oke of Woodville, and Nathalie Bossie and her husband Mark of Millinocket; two sons, Tim Scott and his wife Ann of Mapleton, and Gilbert Caron, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Rock Hill, South Carolina; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a great great grandson; a sister, Mary Griffin of Washburn; three brothers, Dudley Carter, Duane Carter, and Paul Carter and his wife Maryann, all of Millinocket; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, Sis was predeceased by two sons, Gregory and Jeffrey Caron, a brother, Melvin Carter, a brother in law, Lee Griffin, and a sister in law, Ann Carter. Edwina’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Stearns Assisted Living and also to the nurses and staff at Millinocket Regional Hospital for the attentive and patient care given to Sis and also for the many kindnesses and courtesies extended to the family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, July 25 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Millinocket, with Rev. Levering Sherman, pastor, presider. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Sis may be sent to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462.
