Asaie (Ace) A. Welsh Obituary

Asaie A. (Ace) Welsh, 71, of New Castle passed away the evening of July 20, 2014 at Butler Memorial Hospital.


Born in New Castle on March 15, 1943, he was the son of the late James P. and Laura Marshall Welsh. Surviving at home is his loving and devoted wife, the former Carol Pia Pfahles, whom he married on October 15, 1977.


Ace was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Era and retired from Shenango China. Ace enjoyed visiting casinos, classic cars and was handy at fixing many different things.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Steve Welsh, Michael Welsh, David Welsh, all of New Castle; step children, Cheryl Love and husband Fred, of Poland, OH; Jodi Elliott and husband Jim of Bensalem, PA; Fred Pfahles of New Castle; his brother, Charles Welsh of New Castle; his sister, Laurann Hawthorne of New Castle; twelve grandchildren and five step grandchildren.


He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Beth Ann Clingensmith, sisters, Shirley Donahue, Alma Miller and his brothers, Leroy Welsh, Ted Welsh and Wesley Welsh.


At Ace’s request there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 12:00PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St officiated by Deacon Chris Mannerino of St. Vitus Church.


Burial will take place in the veteran section at Parkside Cemetery and Mausoleum.
