Mrs. Hazel Miller Dye Perkins, age 85, of Gardener section of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Sunday (July 13, 2014) in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born June 15, 1929 in Honaker, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Mont C. and Mary Elsie Hess Miller. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1946 graduate of Honaker High School. A faithful Christian, she was a member of the Free Christian Church on Big A Mountain and The Revival Center in Swords Creek, Virginia, and enjoyed attending other area churches. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and a sister in Christ and was an inspiration to all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Clarence Dye, her second husband, Victor Perkins, five brothers, Calvin Miller, Morgan Miller, Kyle Miller, M.C. Miller, and an infant, and one sister, Edith Hunter. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Dye and husband, Lynn of Bristol, Tennessee; three sons, Douglas Dye and wife, Imogene of Castlewood, Clinton “Clint” Dye and wife, Nancy, and Kevin Dye and wife, Lisa all of Swords Creek; five sisters, Shirley Slattlery of Millerville, Maryland, Sally Horton and husband Harry of Lebanon, Virginia, Ann Hess and husband Curtis of Blountville, Tennessee, Sue Joyce and husband Bill of Richlands, Virginia, and Ona Myers and husband Don of Yuma, Arizona; two brothers, Jimmy Miller and wife Leona of Bristol, Tennessee, and Manley Miller and wife Betty of Richmond, Virginia; one step-daughter Patricia Horn of Swords Creek, Virginia; nine grandchildren, Myra Kramer and husband, Roy of Lebanon, Valerie Christian and husband, Kevin of Honaker, Gordon Dye of Lebanon, Rachel Clendenen of Bristol, Virginia, Matt Dye and wife, Courtney of Abingdon, Ashley Price and husband, Kelvin of Lebanon, John Dye and wife, Tara of Bristol, Tennessee, Clark Dye and Casey Dye both of Swords Creek, special caregivers, with whom she made her home, Lisa and Burley Miller; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to show express their deep appreciation to the Miller family for the care and love shown to their mother. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Edward Tiller and Rev. David Perkins officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon, Virginia. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Gordon Dye, John Dye, Matt Dye, Clark Dye, Casey Dye, Kelvin Price, Roy Kramer, and Kevin Christian. Honorary pallbearers will be Burley Miller and all area ministers.
