John Henry Meadows

Mr. John Henry Meadows, age 69, of Rowe, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (July 8, 2014) at his home. Born January 3, 1945 in Page, Virginia, he was a son of the late Loren L. and Mary Vernie Cox Meadows. He was a lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Holiness faith. A disabled coal miner, he had formerly been employed by Jewell Smokeless coal Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Pete Meadows, one daughter, Melody Shephard, and four brothers, Ernest Meadows, C.B. Meadows, Ray Meadows, and Charlie Meadows; two brothers-in-law, Raymond Vanover and Grady Hess. Survivors include three children, John Ellis Meadows and Kevin Meadows both of North Carolina, and Melissa Shook of South Carolina; three sisters, Shelby Jean Vanover of Sugar Grove, Loraine Hess of Oakwood, and Anna Jean Carter and husband, Danny of Roanoke; five brothers, Roger Meadows and wife, Pat of Tazewell, Larry Meadows and wife, Alma of Cedar Bluff, Bill Meadows and wife, Wilma of Rowe, Loren Edward Meadows and wife, Lilly of Sugar Grove, and Terry Meadows and wife, Sherry of Whitewood; two sisters-in-law, Judy Meadows of Oakwood and Linda Meadows of Sugar Grove; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Brad Cook and Rev. Leonard Meadows officiating. Interment will follow in the Meadows and Vance Cemetery at Page, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Jerry Payne, Raymond Vanover, R.J. Vanover, Todd Keen, Tyler Shortridge, and Brian Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Willard Vance, Eugene Stiltner, and Pete Stiltner.
